The Ruling Concerning Jamaa’at-ut-Tabligh And Their Dawah: Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Ali Ferkous

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: What is the ruling pertaining to Jamaa’at-ud-Dawah and Tabligh within the Islamic countries and non Muslim countries?

A: Jamaa’at-ut-Tabligh was initiated based on a dream that its leader Muhammad Ilyaas had. He alleged that, in the dream, the Messenger -sallahu alayhi wa sallam- commissioned him with this important task. Moreover this group is established upon six fundamentals that are based on a secret arrangement (understanding and or viewpoint), that being; everything that is the cause of alienation, splitting, and or differing between two Muslims  -even if it’s the truth- then it is severed and abolished from the methodology of the group.

This group stands in contradiction towards the truth, (they have) a Sufi methodology and disposition, and with them are numerous mistakes. For additional scrutiny refer to the book entitled “A Severe Statement As It Relates To The Warning From Jamaa’at-ut-Tabligh” by the scholar Hammoud ibn Abdillah At-Tuwaijari, and others besides him who have devoted attention towards investigating the modern day Islamic sects. And I ask Allah to cause us to see the truth and to guide us to the path of guidance.

Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab’s Opinion Of Ibn Arabi: Sheikh Rabee ibn Haadi

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Is it true that Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab did not consider Ibn Arabi to be a disbeliever?

A: That is attributed to the imam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, and pertaining to it there is reservations. Maybe this was before he became aware of the true creed of Ibn Arabi, whilst in the beginning stages of studying. This is an assumption of mines that is not far-fetched. Indeed the scholar of Islam Ibn Taimiyyah explained that he himself was deceived by Ibn Arabi, until he studied Ibn Arabi’s authored works. At this point he became cognizant of what was contained therein of deviations and heresy. Thus nothing was permit for him except exposing these deviations and heresies contain within many of his books.

As for after the imam, Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab recognizing what is with Ibn Arabi from deviation and heresy, it is not permitted for us to say that he did not declare Ibn Arabi to be a disbeliever. Being that there was he who was less in adherence to the Sunnah who were explicit in their declaring of Ibn Arabi to be a disbeliever. Al Muqri Al Yamani said, “Whoever doubts the disbelief of Ibn Arabi’s group, then he is a disbeliever.” And he was less in ranking than Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab with respect to adherence to the Sunnah.

Furthermore, many of the Asharis, the scholars from the Asharis and the Hanafis declared the heretic deviate Ibn Arabi to be a disbeliever. They deemed him a disbeliever, so how could it be that Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab does not deem him the same? This is very unlikely.

Are The Shiite Our Brothers? Sheikh Salih Al Fawzan and Sheikh Ubayd Al Jaabiri

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Some preachers and students of knowledge say, while conversing, that the Shiite and the Rafidah are our brothers. Is it permissible to say this?

Sheikh Salih Al Fawzan: I free myself from them in front of Allah, and I free myself from this statement in front of Allah. They are not our brothers, I swear by Allah they are not our brothers. On the contrary they are the brothers of the devil, due to them reviling Ayesha, the mother of the believers; the wife of the Prophet -sallahu alayhi wa sallam- whom Allah chose for His prophet; The truthful woman daughter of the truthful man (Abu Bakr).

They declare Abu Bakr and Umar to be disbelievers and they curse them. They declare the majority of the companions to be disbelievers, except the family of Allah’s Messenger like Ali ibn Abi Taalib, even though (in reality) they are Ali’s enemies. Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, is free from them, as he is our imam and is not theirs. He is the imam of Ahlus Sunnah and not the imam of the filthy Rafidah.

Therefore we free ourselves, with Allah, from them. They are not our brothers, and whoever says this must repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness. As Allah has made it binding upon us to be free of the people of deviation, and to align ourselves with the people of faith.

Q: What is the ruling pertaining to the phrase: The Shiite are our brothers?

Sheikh Ubayd Al Jaabiri: The Rafidah are not our brothers. The Rafidah are the brothers of Iblees. For this reason the imams declared them to be disbelievers and did not count them among the saved sect. In fact, they did not count them among the varying Islamic sects, as the Islamic sects are 73, 72 of which are astray. The Rafidah and the Jahmiyyah are outside (the realms of being among) these Islamic sects.

Thus the phrase “the Shiite are our brothers” this -may Allah bless you- is a political statement and not an Islamic legislative statement. The Rafidah, as I have previously stated, are not the brothers of Ahlus Sunnah, ever.

The Condition Of Muhammad Ibrahim Of Egypt: Sheikh Abu Abdil A’laa Khalid Al Misri

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Abu Abdil A’alaa Khalid ibn Muhammad Uthman Al Misri was asked the following question, what is the condition of Muhammad Ibrahim in Egypt and is knowledge to be taken from him?

His response: That which is apparent from his condition is that he opposes the way of the scholars in some subjects. He is excessive in the matter of declaring salafis to be innovators, and in declaring salafis to be ignorant without due right. From another angle he shows no respect for the scholars as it relates to who they praise and criticize. Thus there may come to him the multiple praise of the major scholars for someone from Ahlus Sunnah yet he shows no consideration for such, in fact he throws it behind his back. Unfortunately he sees himself to be more knowledgeable than the scholars about individuals criticized and declared to be innovators. This was the exact path taken by Mahmood Al Haddaad Al Misri during his initial onset. In the beginning he opposed the scholars concerning their criticisms and commendations thus he was excessive.

An additional characteristic of Al Haddaad is he would go beyond bounds with regards to himself, and his followers were the same. This is something we have noticed in this young man (Muhammad Ibrahim). He and his followers go beyond bounds concerning him, they raise him to the level of the imams just as one of them did in a treatise he authored, therein he mentioned him alongside the imam of criticism and commendation Rabee ibn Hadee. He considered the well grounded specialist of criticism and commendation of the time to be: The lofty scholar Rabee ibn Hadee and then mentioned his teacher, this young man in Egypt, Muhammad Ibrahim. So he considers him to be a well grounded specialist in criticism and commendation without any scholar stating this.

As for imam Rabee he is our teacher and did not reached this level except with attestation from the major scholars. As for these individuals (who are) raising their teacher to this level by way of their own attestation, without any attestation from who? The scholars with regards to him (Muhammad Ibrahim). This is subsequent to their ignorance and behavior which was the way of the first haddaadis. So you’ll find in them dumbfounding arrogance with regards to accepting the truth, dumbfounding arrogance with regards to their brothers, and even with their teachers or scholars, and the subject is lengthy with regards to clarifying the likes of such, however I (would like to) advise my brothers to seek knowledge from the well known, major scholars. Those who have been praised by scholars and imams of guidance that came before them. And (also from) whosoever traverses their path from the students of knowledge. (Take) from the people of knowledge who do not traverse the path of excess and arrogance with regards to the truth.

Our Interaction With The Innovator: Shaykh Rabee Ibn Hadee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Interaction with the innovator is it like that of the sinful person as it relates to love and or association and hate and or disassociation, meaning he is loved and or associated with due to what is with him of faith and hated and or shown hostility towards due to his innovation?

A: That which Ahlus Sunnah have established (regarding this affair) and reported consensus is that the innovator is worse than the disobedient sinner, as the disobedient sinner has characteristics. He (for example) for the most part respects the people of knowledge, virtue, and uprightness, and wishes to be among them. On the contrary the innovator disputes with the scholars, harms them, is hostile towards them, and thinks low of and disrespects them. So the innovator is more evil without doubt.

The Messenger -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- said, “the most evil of affairs are novelties (in the religion)”. He -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- said about the Khawaarij, “They are the evilest of creation” and “wheresoever you meet them, slay them!” An abundance of the Salaf have determined that the people of innovation and the fabricators, those who invent lies against the messenger -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- are more harmful to Islam than the zanaadaqah. How can this be? This is due to them destroying the home from within, then opening the door for the enemies to whom which they say “enter!”

The people of innovation have wrecked the Islamic World. The lowliness and humiliation that has befell is due to the people of innovation. They have caused a multitude of Muslims to be distant from Allah’s methodology to the point where they no longer merit Allah’s help nor generosity. The Shiite, Khawaarij, Mu’tazilah, and the superstitious grave worshiping Sufi are remnants of the people of innovation. So they eat away at the home from within until they eventually say to the enemy “come inside!” Just like what was mentioned to me about the French army when they approached Algeria (or another land) a Sufi elder said, I saw the Messenger -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- say leave them to enter. Hence him being a hypocrite is not far fetched, as he says to the enemy “enter” hence their evil is very dangerous.

As for the sinners they respect the scholars, and the devout. They wish to be among them and to rid themselves of that which is with them, unfortunately the sinner (may be) unable (to do so). On the other hand this criminal (a person of innovation and desire) hates the scholars  and wages war against them. He runs people away from Allah’s religion and diverts from Allah’s path. His evil is very perilous. As a result the salaf firmly established the boycotting, hatred, and uprooting of them. So this question (its questioner) I’m not sure if he’s salafi or one deceived by the methodology of muwazanah, due to him saying love him on account of his Islam, hate him on account of his innovation.

This is the methodology of muwazanah which is falsely attributed to Ibn Taimiyyah, however he did not intend such. He intended the refuting of the Khawaarij because they expelled from Islam whosoever fell into sin or innovation. They declared such to be a disbeliever, yet shaykh-ul-Islam said this type of person has not disbelieved. That was his intent, he did not intend that for every time you mention a strayed innovator you must enumerate his good deeds  or that you must say I love him due to his faith and hate him due to his sins. This is worthless speech. And if this was not the case there is consensus with an overwhelming multitude of major and distinguished scholars before Ibn Taimiyyah as it relates to hatred, abandonment, revilement, and the uprooting of them. These imams reported a consensus regarding this.

Islamic Position With Regards To The Shiite: Shaykh Rabee Ibn Hadee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: What is the Islamic position with regards to the Shiite coming out of Iran, especially as it relates to the abundance of them present at the Sanctuary (in Mecca) and the elders from them? How do we interact with them?

A: Interaction with them falls between two (varying) circumstances. You either have the ability to affect them and to (properly) call them to Allah (worship of Him based on revelation) just as you would call the Jews and Christians to the truth making it clear to them. If this is the case, call them to Allah and if you do not possess the ability to do so (which is the second circumstance) then distance yourself from them. Allah only burdens an individual with that which he can bear.

And this is a calamity that has befallen to which there is no escape. It has befallen and is a trial for us, as we are unable to prevent them from entering the Two Sanctuaries. As a result we are tested by way of them just as the companions were tested by way of the hypocrites. So this is the reality. Consequently the strong students of knowledge and the scholars must take on the responsibility of inviting them to Allah, presenting (to them) the proofs, and referring them to the truth. Either they will accept and if not then the proof is established against them.

As for the small student of knowledge he distances himself and abandons them. He should not be like some who say “the Shiite are our brothers, the difference between us and them is like the difference between Malik and Shaafi’ee.” Those who say this are deceivers who misled the Muslims. A multitude of adherents to the Sunnah have plunged into the arms of the Shiite due to this watering down (and distortion) of the affair. Multitudes in Africa, (specifically) in Sudan and Egypt. Have you not heard about what transpired in Egypt during the medieval era? The batini Shiite ruled Egypt and circulated throughout the land shiism along with the batini ideology, then Allah granted Sallahuddin Al Ayyubi victory in conquering them. Subsequently their government fell and the Sunnah’s influence returned to Egypt. There remained some who upheld the batini ideology under the cloak of Sufism and this is the reason why they can’t outwardly display neither shiism nor the batini ideology.

Unfortunately in this era the craving of the Shiite has intensified with respect to returning shiism and batinism to that country and they have begun to spread their poison. Did you all hear the answer (to the initial question)? The Questioner asked about the Shiite and ones conduct with them. We replied with it being binding upon the strong students of knowledge and the scholars to invite them to Allah, and to make clear the truth. Perhaps Allah will guide whomever He wills from those among them. As for small students of knowledge they are to avoid, shun, and show no regard towards them. And we say the opposite of what some deceivers say from those involved in politics “the Shiite are our brothers, the difference between us and them is like the difference between Malik and Shaafi’ee.”

This is inventing a lie on Allah and misleading the Muslims, subsequently causing many from those who attribute themselves to the Sunnah to be flung into the arms of the Shiite.

Inventing Lies Against People Of Innovation: Shaykh Rabee Ibn Hadee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Is it permissible to lie on the people of innovation or anyone else from the misguided?

A: Lying on anyone is not permission, neither on a disbeliever nor on the people of innovation. It is not permissible to invent a lie on anyone to the point where you say so and so with him is this and that, or with this group is this and that. We seek refuge with Allah, as it is not permissible. We make clear their misguidance via conveyance of it from their writings or some other means, then we raise objection to it with knowledge. This is what we do and we ask Allah to bless every Salafi with success in being truthful and just in statement and action. In conclusion, we do not view to be correct a Muslim telling lies on another Muslim, nor on a disbeliever; ever.

Propagators And Non Propagators From The People Of Innovation: Shaykh Rabee Ibn Hadee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: What are the regulations related to the people of innovation?

A: They are categorized as either propagators or non propagators (of innovation).

As for the propagators punitive measures are taken against them as is mentioned by the imams of Islam like ostracism, as is the case with Umar when he ostracized Sabigh and others. Also from punitive measures is capital punishment (the death sentence issued by an Islamic judge or head of state) just as Al-Jad ibn Dirham, Al-Hallaj, and others from the leaders of innovation and misguidance were killed.

As for the followers for them is direction and clarity. They are called to Allah with wisdom and good admonishment.

Traveling With The Tablighis: Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Here there are some brothers who affiliate with Jamaa’at-ut-Tabligh, and quite often they invite us to go out with them. They use as a proof  to claim that they are upon the truth (the fact that) an abundance of people, whether they be non Muslim or otherwise from all over the world, have been guided as a result of them. So how do we respond to this?

A: We say in response to them; who is it that has been guided to tawheed as a result of them? Is it an individual from the disbelievers, an innovator, or a grave worshiper who consequently abandoned polytheism and repented to Allah (he who now knows tawheed) as a result of them? They only encourage people to repent from sins but they do not stand (clearly and openly) against polytheism ever, nor do they warn against it. Consequently grave worship in their countries is plentiful yet they do not oppose it. So what does this mean? What dawah is this? In addition, they encourage people to repent from sins, yet they introduce them to innovations that they themselves practice.

Are The Asharis From Ahlus Sunnah? Shaykh Rabee Ibn Hadee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Are the Asharis deemed to be from Ahlus Sunnah, notwithstanding their errors in the names and attributes?

A: No they are not as they have an abundance of errors, in fact is it (that their errors) in respect to the names and attributes of Allah (thought to be) insignificant? The Asharis of this era are tijaanis, merghanis, suhrawardis, and grave worshiping sufis in which most among them labeled themselves as ashari or they claimed to be ahlus sunnah.
