Spending The Zakat On Building Masaajid: Sheikh Rabee Ibn Haadi

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: Is it permissible to use some of the zakat money to build masaajid, quran memorization schools, initiate memorization circles, and build hospitals?

A: The obvious is that it is not permissible due to these things not being from the eight (individuals) in which zakat is distributed. The severely impoverished, the working class poor, the collector of the zakat, the one whose heart is inclined towards the truth, and, and, and (til the end of the eight mentioned in surah At Taubah: 60). Give it to the school if there are therein poor people. It is given to them as a result of them being poor. As for them being given cars or building for them schools, this is not correct as it is not from (the legislated) distribution of zakat.

Entrusting The Giving Of Zakatul Fitr To Another: Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Salih Al Uthaymin

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: What is the ruling on leaving zakatul fitr with a neighbor (authorizing him to give it away on one’s behalf) til the poor person comes (to obtain it)?

A: It’s permissible for an individual to leave it with his neighbor while saying to him this is designated for so and so, and when he comes the neighbor gives it to him. However it must reach the hand of the poor person before the eid prayer due to him being an authorized agent of the giver of it. As for if the neighbor is authorized by a poor person, by the poor person saying fetch the zakatil fitr from your neighbor, in this case it is permissible for it to remain with the authorized agent (of the poor person) even if the people exit from (completing) the eid prayer.

The Person Who Dies During Ramadan: Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Salih Al Uthaymin

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: The Messenger’s -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- statement, “when Ramadan comes the gates to paradise are opened, the gates to the fire are closed, and the devils are shackled.” So does this mean that whomever dies during Ramadan will enter paradise without any reckoning? We hope to receive clarity from you in this matter, may Allah reward you.

A: The affair is not like this. On the contrary, the meaning is that the gates of paradise are opened as encouragement for the workers, in order to make easy for them the entering of paradise. The gates of the Fire are closed is for the purpose of the people of faith abstaining from sin so that they will not enter these gates. What is not intended is that whoever dies in Ramadan will enter paradise without reckoning, as the only ones who will enter paradise without reckoning are those whom the Messenger -sallahu alayhi wa salaam- described in his statement: “They are those who did not request ruqya (performed on them), cauterization, nor did they rely on omens. In their Lord they were truly relied upon.” That is along with executing what is binding upon them from righteous actions.

The Guardianship Of A Sinner: Sheikh Ubayd Al Jaabiri

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: The guardian of a woman is about to conclude a marriage contract (giving her away in marriage) however sometimes he prays and at times he abandons it, even though he affirms its obligation, others to whom which the authority can shift to after him, some among them don’t pray at all, and others are unable to attend, so is the marriage contract valid if the first person (mentioned) is the guardian?

A: Yes, this individual is a sinner among the sinful based on the statement of the majority of scholars and it is the more sound position with me. This individual is a sinner among the sinful, however his guardianship is legitimate and the marriage contract is valid.

Actions Are Created: Sheikh Rabee Ibn Haadi

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Q: What do we mean by the servant’s actions are created?

A: What is intended is our acts of obedience and disobedience, all are Allah’s creation. The good of it and the bad, as Allah is the Creator of everything. Thus all the servants actions are created, its good and its bad, its obedience and disobedience all are Allah’s creation. The servant is the doer by way of desire and will that is subsequent to the will of Allah. The desire, will, and intellect which Allah bestows upon him is the object of responsibility (questioned about) and burden, by way of it one receives reward or punishment.
